re-

re- embraces the value of craftsmanship and pursues a powerful approach to waste management. The core of this product is the extensive search for re-employing existing materials and their use, making re- the utmost definition of sustainable and responsible design.

We constructed our fabrication process to adopt a circular cradle by merging different techniques, materials, and experience. With the goal of providing accessible and appealing products, we have created an alternative to coffee packaging that could then be used for multiple purposes, benefiting from a pragmatic second-life. By preserving material - coffee waste and recycled plastic -as the raw base of our production mechanism and guaranteeing its potential for future use, the only acceptable extinction is that of waste and fast consumerism.

Research
Process

We explored traditional Ethiopian weaving alongside products made from plastic, a major contributor to landfill waste. By merging these two areas, we conceptualized a product that supports Ethiopia’s largest export, coffee (51.3%), while utilizing the country's traditional materials and techniques to promote growth and reduce plastic waste.
